Appointed Representative Analyst

Our apprenticeship model combines structured learning with real client exposure from day one, helping new joiners build lasting careers in fund services.

We spoke with Alex Rawes-Tadai, an AR Analyst, to find out more about what the role involves and how it supports long-term development.

How did you decide what jobs to apply for after graduation? Did you always have a career path in mind?

Originally, I was interested in becoming a solicitor, but conversations with legal professionals highlighted concerns around work-life balance and progression. Compliance offered similar intellectual challenges with greater flexibility and broader exposure to financial markets. It also allowed me to apply my legal training in a commercial context.

What degree did you do, and how does it relate to your job?

I studied Law at Lancaster University, specialising in Commercial and Company Law. My dissertation required direct interpretation of legislation through case law – skills that are directly relevant when working with the FCA’s regulatory frameworks.

What does an Appointed Representative Analyst do and what tasks do you undertake?

The AR Analyst role is a blend of compliance and client interaction. I review KYC/CDD documents, respond to client queries, and oversee client activity to ensure it aligns with regulatory requirements. There’s flexibility to shape your path – whether that’s client engagement or deeper regulatory specialisation.

Why Langham Hall?

Langham Hall delivers on its “learn by doing” promise. Within a month, I was reviewing agreements and attending client meetings. The culture is supportive, and the team balances autonomy with guidance – even senior leaders are accessible. This is not box-ticking compliance; it’s meaningful, dynamic work.

What were the first six months of your role like?

Challenging but rewarding. After training on fund structures and monitoring processes, I was quickly involved in real client work. By month three, I was advising clients directly. By month six, I was leading calls and helping to improve internal processes. The pace of progression is fast and fulfilling.

How do you see your career evolving at Langham Hall and what are your long-term goals?

I aim to deepen my technical knowledge and become more confident in advising clients on complex regulatory issues across jurisdictions. Langham Hall supports continued learning, including formal qualifications, which helps me grow into a well-rounded advisor.

Do you have any recommendations for anyone who wants to pursue a career in the Private Funds sector/ Regulatory Hosting team?

Embrace the learning curve. At Langham Hall, new joiners are supported every step of the way, from structured onboarding to ongoing mentorship. No one expects perfection, but curiosity and resilience go a long way. Ask questions, get involved and build confidence through challenges.
