Leadership and Success – Q&A for International Women’s Day 2021

8th March 2021

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we’re highlighting some of our talented women across the business who have made a difference and are paving the road for female leaders of the future.

We spoke to Ingrid Buckley, Head of Finance and Tatyana Boger Head of Administration - Luxembourg, about their careers and professional motivations.

What did you want to be when growing up?

Tatyana: I always wanted to be a woman that has power, running my own company.

Who has been the biggest influence in your career and why?

Ingrid: I did a graduate trainee programme at Deloitte London in the 1990s, and learnt from a few key managers there who I aspired to be like myself. They led by example and taught us how we should be both professionally and personally in the workplace, developing us in ways you took for granted at the time but totally shaped me as a professional individual.

What motivates you professionally?

Tatyana: It has never been the job itself. It’s the process, a desire to achieve things, setting goals and achieving them. Wanting to make a difference.

What advice do you have for women starting out a career in financial services?

Tatyana: Whether you are a man or a woman, you always need to try to be the best you can in what you do and never be satisfied with what you have achieved. Having a constant desire to become even better and contribute to the growth of the company you work for will always put you in good stead.

How important is mentoring, coaching and sponsorship in helping women to grow their confidence at work?

Ingrid: I like to think I have mentored a number of wonderful women over the last 10 years and hope they themselves go on to mentor and coach colleagues in order to keep the sisterhood progression going. When you feel confident in the workplace and in yourself, your output is likely to be your best. You should never be scared to challenge the status quo if you have a valid reason to do so, but it’s always easier to do it when you have someone there who supports you. That’s why we should all give that support and look out for each other.

Tatyana: Mentoring and coaching is important for everybody whether you are a man or a woman. It’s very important to have the right people who can mentor and coach you, who you can trust and who believe in you.
