Private Equity Business Development Executive

The role:

The business has now grown to a size where it is updating the structure of the BD team and needs a permanent resource to provide research and insight to the business development team.  The candidate will be expected to originate new business opportunities through attending industry events, organising meetings with industry professionals, reviewing industry media outlets and researching viable leads.  They will need good organisational skills to track the life cycle of a given lead and to manage a network of contacts.

The candidate will also ensure that other members of the team have the appropriate support to spend as much face time as possible with key contacts and prospects.

Responsibilities will be varied and will include research on prospects, gathering sector knowledge, reviewing and follow up on industry press articles plus building and maintaining databases.  

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Sourcing and winning new clients
  • Conducting desk-based market research to identify relevant raisings, transactions and trends
  • Prospect background research
  • Researching industry media and press leads
  • Scheduling and conducting meetings with prospective clients and relevant third parties
  • Ensuring contacts are added to CRM
  • Tracking and co-ordinating meetings
  • Contribution to first draft administration agreements, NDAs and proposals
  • Delivering business development initiatives/strategies around advisors and prospects
  • Conference and seminar attendance for networking and cold calling where necessary
  • Supporting pitch process in terms of the production of information for RFPs and other information required by Head of department about the business
  • Contribution to marketing efforts including mailshot initiatives, presentations and other materials

  • Strong organisational skills
  • Strong written communications, capable of writing knowledge sharing/thought leadership pieces for distribution across Langham Hall offices and externally
  • Competent / experienced at using Microsoft office packages (the ability to use word and excel effectively and efficiently is essential to managing work load)
  • Some experience in private equity is preferred (internship, summer activities or full time employment)
  • Strong reading comprehension, critical reasoning
  • Graduate with 1st or 2:1 classification
