Marketing and events assistant

The role:

The business has now grown to a size where it needs a permanent resource to support the business development team, acting as a central point of coordination for Langham Hall’s events and marketing efforts.   This role is a key part of maintaining the professional image of the business and this is driven through event attendance and sponsorship, internal and external newsletters, the company website, and all marketing materials. 

The successful candidate will provide support to the team and senior colleagues in the management and coordination of networking events. This will also include management and continued review of a database of Langham Hall’s events sponsorship. Newsletters are one of the most effective ways for Langham Hall to share knowledge and connect with its broad range of industry contacts; the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the production and distribution of all internal and external newsletters. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for managing the content of the Langham Hall website, ensuring the information presented is accurate and up-to-date, whilst also identifying opportunities to enhance the appearance and the exposure of the website. Marketing materials are a further element of the presentation of Langham Hall’s image, which is a crucial element of the process of winning new work. The successful candidate will be responsible for ongoing management and updating of all Langham Hall marketing materials, this is to ensure accuracy and consistency, whilst also exploring opportunities to improve and enhance the marketing materials.

 This is an ideal opportunity for a successful candidate to work closely with senior management and take ownership responsibilities from an early stage in their role, with the opportunity to have a real impact on how the company is viewed externally. 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update internal/external event calendar
  • Maintain and update subscription log for industry press
  • Events – keep a log of prior sponsorship deals and negotiate initial prices for conference attendance, sponsorship or venue hire
  • Co-ordinating logistics for corporate events including shipping of stand, marketing materials and selecting optimal spot at venue for stand
  • Organise caterers, setup and hold in colleagues evening drinks for CRM events both at internal and external venues
  • Keep marketing materials up to date; routinely revisit and challenge the materials
  • Maintain a corporate marketing policy to ensure firm wide consistency
  • Coordinate the production and distribution of newsletters
  • Transfer all technical publications to the website news page
  • Ensure website is up to date with current statistics
  • Track and manage relationship with SEO performance and service provider
  • Ensure the business is up to date on social media (Twitter and LinkedIn)
  • Responsible for formatting and distributing the staff newsletter to all Langham Hall employees
  • Updating and maintaining the client database and contact lists (business card scanning / allocating ownership of contacts)

 

Technical knowledge / skills required:

  • Strong knowledge of social media (LinkedIn & Twitter)
  • Ability to work using own initiative
  • Attention to detail is critical
  • Strong PowerPoint skills
  • Experience using design packages and graphic editing software
  • Experienced at using Microsoft office packages (the ability to use Word and Excel effectively and efficiently is essential to managing your work load)

  • Strong reading comprehension and critical reasoning
  • The ideal candidate should have graduated with a minimum of a 2:1; and/or marketing diploma
